About NextLabs

Safeguard your Digital Economy

As data breaches spiral out of control globally, with costs reaching a staggering $4.5 trillion, organizations are swallowing a hard truth: as they embrace digitization and collaboration, they face expanding attack surface, complicated access control, and increased data movements — putting critical information at risk. Remote work and mobile platforms have now made traditional access control solutions obsolete, as they fail to enforce security across multiple data silos. Furthermore, with the shift to cloud computing, IoT, and the emergence of sophisticated internal threats, perimeter-based defenses have become limited in their coverage. Enterprises now face a Herculean task: How can they strike the right balance between providing the access needed to smoothly run their business, while keeping data secure and staying compliant?

Our History

In 2004, Keng Lim, a former executive at Netscape and creator of Java Application Server, together with John DeSantis, Chris Guo and the team at Sygate Technologies were inspired by the success of their security software quickly became a market leader in network admission control.  Although Sygate became a go-to provider for companies looking for an enterprise class solution to managing network access and enforcing network security policies, Keng was intrigued that many of their large enterprise customers continued to express concern about the difficulty of preventing wrongful disclosure and effectively protecting sensitive data everywhere in an increasingly complex IT landscape across the extended enterprise.

With the knowledge and experience in network security software, Keng and his team quickly realized that securing access to the network is only a mean to an end, ultimately what everyone needs is to secure the data and applications while making them easy to use and accessible. As organizations expanded their networks and adopted new technologies, the potential for data breaches grew significantly. Keng and his team recognized that traditional security measures were insufficient to address these evolving threats; most existing solutions were either too complex, too expensive, or simply not practical for organizations to implement effectively.

Recognizing this gap in the market, Keng and his team set out to develop an affordable and user friendly solution that would provide enterprises a platform to unify all data-centric security needs under a single centrally managed solution, ensuring that security was not just a luxury but an attainable standard for all organizations. They aimed to create an intuitive, scalable tools that could protect data at the core anywhere regardless of how it is used, where it is stored and access from. By focusing on both data protection and user accessibility, Keng and his team sought to provide enterprises with a robust solution that can be deployed rapidly to protect sensitive information while still be easily integrated into and working out-of-the-box (OOTB) with existing IT environments, enabling enterprises to safeguard their data and manage risks effectively.
